WORK PERMITS AND STUDY PERMITS ARE SENT THROUGH MAIL IN CANADA

Study and work permit applicants who have received their approval letters no longer have to go to the border to activate their permits.

Applicants who have received their approval letters for study and work permit will not have to go to the border to activate their permits. International applicants in Canada with approved work or study permit will get their permits sent to their address by mail. IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has now opened web forms and is accepting requests from the applicants who have their LOI(Letter of Introductions) but no alternative to travel to a port of entry to claim their permits. These measures are extended to people who get their LOI under the quota of the International Experience Canada program.

The pandemic travel restrictions have made the LOI holders face troubles acquiring their permits. After their approval to work or study, they would have to go to a port of entry to get their permit. They aren’t allowed as it is not considered essential travel. This keeps them away from getting their work or study permit, which will not allow them to legally start working or studying even after their approved status.

This new procedure will allow the applicants to request their study or work permit online and received their papers by mail. This option is made available by IRCC until March 31, 2021.
