IRCC all set to issue up to 10,000 applications for the 2020 PGP intake over the next days!

Candidates that can attain a spot in the lottery will receive a formal invitation to apply for the sponsor parents, grandparents program. The government of Canada will begin to notify 10,000 randomly selected sponsors for coveted spots. The spots are allotted by the IRCC are randomly selected through a lottery.

Aspiring Immigrants hoping to sponsor their parents or grandparents to live permanently in Canada will understand the results of the process in the coming days and test their luck in this controversial lottery method to choose the deserving candidates for the family reunification. The applicants who have filled out the online forms in fall 2020, will be considered for this process. The results will be disclosed over the period of the next ten days.

The process involved IRCC eliminating duplicate and incomplete application forms, 10,000 sponsors will be chosen in this lottery eligible to invited to apply formally.

The program is not appreciated by Tens of thousands of immigrants hoping to sponsor their loved one each year. This process was taken under consideration after the fall out of the faulty last year’s first-come, first-served online system to provide slots to apply for sponsoring.

But the lottery system is backed by the government calling it the fairest.

The launch of the 2020 PGP was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. IRCC then opened the interest to sponsor window between October 13 and November 3. During this period, Canadian citizens and permanent residents were able to indicate their desire to IRCC to sponsor their parents and grandparents to obtain permanent resident status.- CIC NEWS
